The 2019 APN Symposium
The 1st APN symposium,
hosted by
Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University under the direction of
Dr. Korbtham Sathirakul, was held on
November 19-20, 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand, along with
satellite workshops on November 18.
This inaugural 2019 APN symposium was a great success. Not only as many as approximately 200 people participated, but speaker allocation was well balanced across APN countries, with 18 speakers invited from 9 APN countries and 1 from the US.
This balanced speaker allocation indicates APN 2019 achieved its goal of providing a pan Asian networking opportunity, which cannot be seen in other international meetings in Asia.
In the satellite workshops, two topics were covered, one focusing on
PBPK instructed by
Dr. Korbtham Sathirakul of Mahidol University, Thailand, and the other on
Quantitative Systems Pharmacology instructed by
Dr. Dongwoo Chae of Yonsei University, Korea.
The 2020 APN Symposium
The 2nd APN symposium, hosted by the
Society of Pharmacometrics and Health Analytics (SOPHAS) of India under the direction of
Dr. Surulivelrajan Mallayasamy of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, was held on
November 18-19, 2019, along with
satellite workshops on November 20. The 2020 APN symposium was
held as a virtual meeting due to COVID-19 restrictions, with registration fees waived to encourage participation.
Compared with the 2019 symposium, the 2020 APN symposium was a bigger success, with 365 people registering and 18 speakers invited, among whom 16 were from 8 APN countries and 1 from the US. Like the 2019 symposium, speaker allocation was balanced across APN countries.
At this symposium, 8 student speakers were invited from APN member countries, to provide presentation opportunities to future pharmacometricians.
The satellite workshop was instructed by Dr. Vijay Ivaturi of the University of Maryland with the topic of a new age modeling and simulation platform Pumas (Pharmaceutical Modeling and Simulation).
The 2021 APN Workshop
The 2021 APN educational workshop titled
“Basic Pharmacometrics Course using Monolix”, hosted by the
Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia under the direction of
Dr. Akhmad Kharis Nugroho, was held
virtually on June 3, 2021. The course was intended for those who are new to or wish to advance their knowledge in the area of pharmacometrics.
The 2021 APN Symposium
The 3rd APN symposium, hosted by the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University under the direction of Dr. Yunn-Fang Ho, was also held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions on November 25-26, 2021, along with satellite workshops on November 21-24. Like the symposium in 2019 and 2020, the 2021 APN symposium was also a success, with 268 people registering and speakers invited from 10 APN counties.
For the satellite workshop, Dr. Vijay Ivaturi gave a workshop on “A new age modeling and simulation platform Pumas” on Nov 21-24 (16 hours in total), and Dr. Nick Holford on “Disease Progress and Drug Action” on Nov 24, which was organized for future workshop instructors.
The 2022 APN Workshop
The 2022 APN educational workshop titled “Hands on with Monolix”,hosted by the staff of Monolix, was held virtually on November 7-8 prior to the symposium. The course was intended for those who are new to or wish to advance their knowledge in Monolix.
The 2022 APN Symposium
The 4th APN symposium, hosted by Dr. Lo Yoke Lin of International Medical University, Malaysia, was also held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions on November 9-10, 2022, along with satellite workshops on November 7-8.
Following previous years, speakers were also invited from various Asian countries (11 Asian countries), keeping making it the unique Asian meeting fully representing the diversity of the region.
The 2023 APN Symposium
The 5th APN symposium, hosted by Dr. Yasuhiro Tsuji of the Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacometrics at Nihon University, Japan, was held virtually on November 29-30, 2023. In previous years, APN Symposiums featured speakers from over ten APN countries, and this year, speakers were also invited from various Asian countries. Through these efforts, the APN aims to develop the APN Symposium into a pan-Asian conference in the field of quantitative pharmacology.
